Our communities are in a state of emergency. Global rates of depression and anxiety have increased 20% and 25% respectively since the pandemic began. In addition, we have seen increases in trauma, substance misuse, self-harm and suicidal behavior. In 2022, the US Surgeon General Vivik Murthy issued an Advisory to highlight the urgent need to address the nation’s youth mental health crisis.
Our own friends, family and communities of color have been historically up against multiple barriers keeping them from accessing evidence-based prevention, treatment, training and education for mental health. Mental health itself is a stigmatized topic among many communities of color. It’s our responsibility to act now and embark on building a scalable network of people who bring new perspectives and insights to the field. Your donation has the real long-term potential to impact many generations.
